Asuu Strike Continues Even After Payment of Salaries

Do you remember that two weeks warning strike by Asuu before the COVID-19 pandemic? The information circulating then was, Lectures were not paid salaries and they were against IPPIS(Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System) .
After the pandemic strayed they kept quiet for a white, now they've decided to speak again after the order made by the President.

“Now, we can discuss without an atmosphere of intimidation. This will lead to a meaningful dialogue. The ongoing industrial strike action by the union is still on. Our strike is not just about the IPPIS,” Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, the President of Asuu said
Ogunyemi said, “If they had not paid at this time, with what everyone is going through, it would have meant a declaration of war. The discussion will start when they pay. They have even attached a condition to the payment.
“The moment the salaries are paid, the National Executive Committee of the union would meet to deliberate on the next line of action,” he said.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, had on Tuesday said the President directed the Minister of Finance, Budget and Planning, and the Accountant General of the Federation to effect the payment urgently to cushion the deleterious effects of COVID 19 pandemic lockdown on lecturers and members of their family.
The Labour Minister added that all the Vice-Chancellors were asked to revalidate the affected lecturers’ Bank Verification Numbers and forward to the Accountant General of the Federation for the payments.

The Federal Government had directed all federal tertiary institutions in the country to enroll in the IPPIS from February 2020.
The major reason Asuu is angry this time is, the Federal government requested for their Bvn(bank verification number) before they can get paid their salaries.
Does that mean FG wants to stylishly enroll them into the IPPIS?
Let's hope Asuu meets With FG real quick .
Or do you still want to stay at home after Corona is  over.
