The Vice - Chancellor , Federal University Oye
Ekiti ( FUOYE ) , Prof. Kayode Soremekun has
said the university management was not
embarking on massive infrastructural
development to embezzle money , but to reach a
20 , 000 students population with well - equipped
infrastructure .
Soremekun said before the year runs out, many
state - of - the - art facilities would be put in place
to complement his plans of accommodating
20 , 000 students and also providing conducive
academic environment for staff . He called on
the Federal Government not to relent in its
efforts at funding tertiary institutions,
especially FUOYE , saying : “ education is the
bedrock of any meaningful development. ”
Soremekun made this known while on
inspection of 47 projects in FUOYE ’ s Oye Ekiti
and Ikole Ekiti campuses, with a team from the
Federal Ministry of Education and members of
the institution’ s Governing Council .
Soremekun announced that FUOYE Radio
would commence operation, as soon as the
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC )
approves the frequency and gives total backing
for its operation . He urged students to make
judicious use of the facilities to succeed as
future leaders .
Representative of the Federal Ministry of
Education , Mr . Abdullahi Saliu Jubri , expressed
satisfaction with the level of infrastructural
development and academic excellence recorded
by the school, which was established in
2011 . He said he was not surprised that the
university clinched 14 th position in the latest
rating carried out by the National Universities
Commission ( NUC ).
